(All episodes watched): I would say that this one had the highest laughs-to-time ratio of any Fall show I've watched so far; if only it had been a completely fresh premise rather than a continuation I might easily have declared it my favorite show of the season. Episode two was goofy and nonsensical until Jun asked Arashi to explain her feelings for Hajime, at which point it got surprisingly touching. Most of the time this show is all about the comedy, which is OK because it's above average comedy. The reason I haven't written a whole lot about the series is that even though I laugh a good deal, the jokes seem largely unmemorable afterwards, and most episodes don't really go anywhere that will affect the next one. But there is definitely a crisis building in the background, regarding what will become of Arashi at the end of the Summer. Without us realizing it, the skillfull comedy has endowed each character with a likeable, three-dimensional personality, so we really do care what is going to happen. Or does it? Suddenly the show is finished, and if I ask myself what new things I've learned about a particular character during this second season, in most cases I'd have a hard time thinking of any. I guess that yes, they've become likeable, but no, there hasn't been all that much character development--which may be another reason why it is difficult to think of things to say here. The show concludes without a resolution of the major issue, i.e, what will become of Arashi and what will Hajime do about it? All sorts of threads remain dangling, like will Jun's secret ever be revealled, will the ghost girls remain waitresses indefinitely, etc. No doubt the manga is still incomplete. I guess the fragmented, filler-like nature of Akinai hasn't instilled in me all that great a need to know exactly how things will work out. For a show with this sort of prestige, a third season wouldn't surprise me--but things ending here wouldn't reduce me to tears either. watching now... 12 eps watched... Ep 12: A sexy funny episode. An aspiring manga artist needs a final scene to finish her work and it happens to be a kiss scene. The whole ep is used to help her with funny, yuri, gay, and rather insinuating interactions. The final part with Hajime and Arashi on the roof was a rewarding scene and kind of made up for ep 10's rejection. The salt guy was never taunted so badly before and it was hilarious. The last ep seems like it's going to be of a very light-hearted nature since nothing super dramatic has taken place within the ending string besides the revealing of a new enemy. Fun ep... Ep 11: Entertainment and enjoyment to the Nth degree. It's Jun's birthday and she is awarded one of the greatest gifts a girl could ask for: A sexy matured body, first-hand insight into what her friends really think of her, and a hidden confession of love from an unexpected source. This ep was one of the best of the series filled with laughs, good chemistry, and the guy who still can't get any salt. Great ep... Ep 10: A cool episode. Everyone gets together to figure out why Arashi and Hajime have become distant and can't connect anymore. Kana, Jun and the others all try to understand the situation and force Hajime to suck it up and get over it. He notices that he has hit a new low and wants to shape up again. They decide to go back to when Arashi was younger to make her understand Hajime's feelings. The trouble of meeting the younger Arashi resulted in some slight perversion, a fight with multiple kids with real weapons, and a sudden kiss to be returned at a later date! The viewer finds out that Arashi did experience love before and it comes to a surprise to her as to who her love really was. I enjoyed this episode. The salt guy almost got his salt, but Arashi mistook it for sugar (LOL). Check out the master playing her PSP (!) near the end. The new end-credits were different and confirmed the end is near for this series. Only three eps left in the string. Cool episode... Ep 9: A mixed episode. At first glance, it seemed like more of the same crap. Having lots of spoiled food and time traveling to fix it, the guy not being able to get some salt, and more random events concerning time paradoxes. The mood began to change when Jun is seen pressuring Hajime to try harder with his love for Arashi. After learning the truth about what happens when summer is over, he forces Arashi on a date and they lay everything on the table. With less than favorable results, Arashi and Hajime notice that they are no longer able to be the way they used to be! I was pleased with how this episode ended. It gave me some slight hope to some good entertainment for the final string of episode. Good ep... Ep 8: It was interesting for a second there, but it just got worse as time went on. It's very clear that Arashi isn't fond of extreme temperatures thanks to her tough upbringing and the fate of the city is at stake if she reaches a certain point of no return. Everyone struggles with the summer heat as the air-conditioning unit is out. Arashi enters a strange trance where she can't complain about the heat and Kaya explains the Emperor of Fire tragedy. All the remotes in the place didn't work, though they activated some strange things. They all find a hidden cave and almost find a solution to the heat, but Arashi enters her final countdown to destruction. After getting the right remote and getting the AC on, the unthinkable happens with the funny realistic moments. I don't know what to say about this title at this point. That makes four bad eps in a row! Dull ep... Ep 7: Yawn. The crew worries about having a million dollar tea cup in their possession and the master doesn't remember what she did with it. They all go back (Yayoi breaking the rule by having two connectors - the dog and the master) several times, avoiding themselves from the past as well as themselves from 5 minutes ago as well as themselves from 3 days ago, etc... The salt guy finally got his hands on some salt, but the bottle was empty (LOL). Boring ep... Ep 6: They all try to replicate the legendary taste of cold noodles. The worst ep of the series so far. Terribly boring ep... Ep 5: Kanako has a thing for glasses and suffers greatly with it in this ep for our entertainment. This was a really stupid episode overall. A few laughs and that's about it. Poor ep... Ep 4: Arashi and Hajime come over to Jun's house (!) and all hell breaks loose as she tries to hide the fact that she is a girl. We learn more about Jun and her fear of wedding dresses. Funny yet cheesy kind of ep. Good ep... Ep 3: Pure fun! I laughed pretty damn hard with this one. Finding Yayoi a person to connect with was ridiculous (their eyes were the best). Her partner from now on is not even on the human level. The guy still couldn't get any salt and even heard the gang talking about it (funny stuff). The master of the cafe was pretty hot in this ep (for once). Arashi worried about her first meeting with Hajime after forgetting everything. The master's insert about 'doing it until you lose consciousness' was the highlight of the ep. She goes back in time to confirm what happened and it turns out to be an adventure for the ages (LOL). Hajime is a scientific 'G' for life. I love this show. Great ep... Ep 2: The gang all go to enjoy the good life at a getaway resort. We get some solid laughs with Jun and Hajime again, but I hope they don’t plan on using this gender joke for too much longer since its starting to get old. Arashi's talk with Jun about Hajime was very enlightening. Great ep... First impression: Funny as Hell! I laughed so hard that I fell out of my chair and found myself rolling down my hallway in tears! The gang all make their comedic return with more in store for the fans: Jun is still troubled with his/her sexual identity (LOL), Hajime still tries to win Arashi's heart with his many tricks, and the rest of the gang is all there still contemplating time travel theories and assumptions. This ep was all about the beach (!?) and their resulting interactions were to die for. I wasn't ready for the amount of comedy they were able to throw at me. Jun and Hajime are the best. To top everything off, the guy in the shop still couldn't get any salt (LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) You better believe I'll be watching this one. The time traveling insanity continues...
