(One episode watched):

This was a strange show about which I had a hard time learning anything about the origins; neither ANN nor AniDb had heard of it. I thought at first that this was another Spring '09 series, but that didn't turn out to be so. One thing which quickly became evident was that colors are often poorly chosen and consequently drab. Along with the more intentional strange touches, the effect is to leave you feeling that you've been hypnotized into some sort of surreal dream world. CG is crude and jarring, and the animation is distinctly modest; it varies from simple SD to fairly detailed and realistic. Yet there is a certain goofiness to this show, a weird parody of of other magical academy series. Jokes are thinly spread, but some are genuinely clever and outlandish; it's often hard to say what's funny and what's just weird. Touches like the chorus of male and female students in the "Second Year Hero Training Department" are bizarre. SCV ended suddenly, without so much as a credit, just when a duel between Miyu and fellow student Ryuuto was about to begin, but I found a mention of a second episode on an obscure website. I would be glad to watch the remainder, but wouldn't be heartbroken if I missed it either.

Episode two finally turned up a year later--except it was actually the second half or episode one. The first 'episode' had no ED sequence and the second had no OP one. Even so, the ending was still abrupt (and was followed by a preview of yet another part). This show is definitely weird, but the weirdness doesn't always translate into laughs. It seems like a parody of magic academy shows, but while some bits make me laugh, others just leave me scratching my head or are not terribly funny things which I've seen before, and that doesn't make for much of a parody. Oh well, it was worth a watch.

My favorite line: "Some crazy flying bitch attacked me and all" --Miyu
