(Watched 2 episodes) A bit too bland for me to get latched on. This anime seems to have the typical stuff found in a shoujo anime mixed with the vampire element. Take your pick of the stuff in this anime you are guaranteed to find in conventional shoujo titles: attractive looking guys, fangirls swooning over them, a level-headed girl trying to keep the peace while in love herself, a brooding young man with a dark secret. Meh. Even with the "day/ night class" that the school has, Vampire Knight isn't hooking my interest. Another Netflix rental that I shove aside without a final review. i.LOVE.vampire knight. its the best anime iv watched so far.the characters look gorgeous (especially kaname ♥ XD) the story (manga and anime) is very intresting a human girl who was in love with a vampire that saved her life all of a sudden becomes his little sister and fiancee.the story is filled with romance,with a touch of humor,powers/magic/supernatural,saddness,and excitement as well as some cool fighting scenes and some blood spills to make the anime everything but boring.very nicly planned and very original :D vampires&humans&hunters :3

Having a fascination with most things vampire, I decided to have a thorough viewing of Vampire Knight. It starts off with a little girl (Yuki) covered in blood and a vampire waiting to kill her. All of a sudden she is saved by this handsome young man who also is a vampire. Time goes by and we now see her in an academy with her partner, Zero, a childhood friend who has a cold personality towards her and other people. Both of them are called prefects, guardians to between the day and night classes. Day class being all human and the night class...well all vampires. Apparently, Cross Academy is a safe haven where these vampires can stay so long as they do not harm any of the day class students. The day class (of course) don't even know the night class are all vampires but all of the day class (especially the girls) completely adore them. That's just the story looking from the outside. The real story lies within the Night class' dorm president, Kaname. He was also the vampire who saved Yuki from the "Level E" vampire. The rest you'll have to see for yourself. It's an interesting story where the vampires simulate a level of society between them. It's like the salary classification we have in the real world where there is upper, middle, and lower. The vampires have three levels (actually 2 but one of the levels coincide with another). The first level are Purebloods. They are the upper echelon of vampires who carry abilities no other vampires have. The next level down are the vampires who born into families. The are the "normal" type of vampire with no special abilities unlike Purebloods. The last level are the Level E vampires. These are vampires who have lost any humanity in them and are the most violent and unstable of vampires. They are hated by Purebloods and are usually hunted down by them. This series clearly tackles discrimination from the get go which most people can relate to. That I like. What I don't necessarily like is the story. It branched out and has no real main plot until it's explained near the end of the series. If there wasn't this explanation, the story would have been far too spread out and could confuse the average viewer. Still, it holds well and kept me into it. The characters are not really special except for Zero. He stands out because out of all the others, he has an agenda and also he holds a pure hatred for vampires. He protects them willingly though because he is a prefect. Once one of the gets out of line, he'll the first to kill that vampire without hesitation. He reminds me of Sasuke from the Naruto series. Between the both of them, they are both not really social, likes to be alone, has a pure hatred for someone/something, but they also open up to someone close to them and are able to care for their friends. Now the title, "Vampire Knight", really does not suit this series. To me, it just implies that there might be a vampire hero within the mix which is not necessarily true. If you don't have any background on what vampires are or just don't care, I don't recommend this series. It refers heavily on vampire society and not much on blood, guts, and bloody action. It's more of a dramatic thriller/love story if anything. It would have been nice if there was a lot of gore, but then it wouldn't be what it is now. I do think the inner love story is weak and feels one-sided at times. However, with plot twists and a cliffhanger ending, it really isn't a bad choice. the opening wasn't good, and that usually starts me reved up to watch a show...
the story was just ok for me, i chose to watch episode 1 cuz the guy on the right
kinda reminds me of lulu, but i dunno if i am going to continue... I prefer Vampires
attacking humans...isn't this the way it is supposed to be?

The thing i don't like about reading manga is because it ruins the anime. The anime was ok for me (manga is better) the animation is nice, it's good to finally see the characters in colour and moving around. The humor is average. I kinda got a depressing feel when watching vampire knight but then again it's only the first episode, we'll see how it goes when more comes out! Last updated Sunday, April 13 2008. (All episodes watched): The moment I saw the illustration here I experienced a deja-vu for Zombie-Loan--in fact, for a moment I hoped this might be a second season of that show. Vampire Knight (I almost typed "Vampire Loan" there--seriously!) has gotten a relatively large amount of publicity and has been built up as a likely star of the Spring '08 season. After watching the first episode, however, my attitude was eh, that was OK but I wasn't exactly thrilled by it. Some of the jokes were corny, and the OP and ED songs seemed uninspired (and played at a strangely low volume). The main problem, I think, is that the show needed something really unusual, a "vampire twist" if you will, which I haven't detected as of yet. Vampires are so commonplace in anime that they aren't really all that scary by themselves, especially not if they look and behave like "bishie boys". There seems to be a common premise in romantic anime where a female main character finds herself torn between two candidates for her boyfriend. One is suave, noble, widely admired, and probably rich. The other is passionate but has a troubled past. This seems to be the case in Vampire Knight; the twist, of course, is that here they're both vampires! It injects an element of danger and intrigue. Vampires--some of them, that is--are seemingly getting along with humans, thanks to a sort of artificial blood tablets which they can feed on. There is still plenty of conflict, as vampires consider themselves superior to humans and are always tempted to drink actual blood. Most humans, on the other hand, hate and fear vampires. I especially like the vampire hunter element, i.e, people who are called in to deal with vampires that have gone wild. The tenuous peace is maintained largely thanks to Kaname, an influential and widely admired pure-blooded vampire. Then there's Zero, a vampire hunter who was bitten and transformed into a vampire himself--not surprisingly, he is held in contempt by other vampires. And then there is Yuki, a human girl who finds herself torn between the two of them. The plot seems to have been well thought-out, with plenty of conflict and tension. This seems a definite shojo series, but I remain interested as well. Vampire Knight consists of two plot arcs of what seems an incomplete manga (there's a hint at the end that the story will continue). Whereas the first arc didn't particularly thrill me, I was pleasantly surprised by the second one. There are layers of Vampires which range from the noble Purebloods to the abhorrent "type Es", which are like blood-addicted junkies going through withdrawal. I had no idea there were so many facets to vampires, and it was interesting and intriguing. Yuki has basically become entangled in the political power struggles among purebloods. Even the principal villainess has a personality and I felt some pity for her at the end. I wanted to hurry up and watch the second half of the series since the Summer season had already begun, but I found it much better than I had expected.
