This story begins on an Earth recovering from the devastation caused by the destruction of the moon “Lost Artemis” 107 years ago. There, humanoid mecha called “iDOL”, play an important role protecting the Earth from “drops”, fragments of the moon which fall to Earth. The only persons that can operate iDOL are special girls called “iDOL Masters”. Their roles are to operate “iDOL” in order to destroy meteors falling from space. At the same time, they are trying to live normal school lives. (copied www.animenfo.com)

About as cookie-cutter as you can get, Idolm@ster Xenoglassia is a mecha series about aspiring teen pop idols piloting mecha called Idols to wipe out incoming fragments of the moon destroyed by a mysterious phenomena over a century earlier. The first half of the series is focused on introducing the title's premise and characters, while slowly unveiling some sinister elements involving a terrorist group desiring world domination and a third party with ties to the Idols and influence on international political affairs that get revealed in Xenoglassia's second half. Pretty much, most of the series supplies a mix of cliches and character archetypes you can expect out of mecha, action and otaku-pandering titles with the pop idol/ mecha mix it offers for its premise and characters. While the series does flesh-out those among Mondenkind and has some surprise twists over the three parties involved in the series, the enemy faction is mostly limited in depth as they are stuck with whatever character archetypes they are tacked with and many of the other elements revealed about characters and the factions are quite predictable as you can expect them from similar titles. The show also attempts to make the bonding between Idols and their pilots a major element of the storyline, yet this came across as subpar for me since you didn't really get much to hear from the mecha anyway. To my understanding, this series is a spinoff of a video game series that is more focused on the pop idol elements of the characters involved and has no mecha to be found in it, meaning this is quite likely an attempted cash-in to attract Japanese fans of the franchise. Considering how cliched and average I found Xenoglassia to be overall. I'm very likely not gonna venture into any other titles in the Idolm@aster franchise.
