Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan - 8: Farewell! Dokuro-chan!

Title:Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan
Episode:8: Farewell! Dokuro-chan!
Synopsis
Acting on Shizuki's recommendation, Sakura finds Dokuro hiding just where he had expected--in his room. She begs him to carry on the Wood Glue Club without her (and doesn't kill him when he proves unenthusiastic). Zakuro surprises them and catches them both with Eckilsax, and does bizarre things to Sakura to persuade him to urge Dokuro to give up and return to the future. Sakura admits that Dokuro has caused him plenty of problems, but promises he won't invent the device which will keep girls from aging beyond twelve--or, if he does, he'll modify his lifestyle so as to not be interested in them. Zakuro is not moved by his pleading, however, and along with Dokuro they both disappear. Later, Sakura and Shizuki are enjoying some ice cream together, but somehow he can't help feeling that he must be dreaming, since he's in no danger at all. Afterwards, an old acquaintance grabs him, and explains that Dokuro's return to the future has resulted in some unexpected complications...

Not a bad wrap-up for the series. In my opinion, a good anime has got to do one of two things: A)make sense or B)be funny (a really good one could do both). Since this is quite an off-the-wall show, it was clearly concentrating on being funny. This final episode did have a touch of sentimentality to it, but they didn't take it too far and it remained believable. I actually felt that this episode was at it's best in the first half, and the second one became sort of confusing--after all, why would Sakura become attached to a girl who repeatedly batters him to pieces? But again, the makers didn't forget that this is primarily a comedy, and when I find a show to be truly funny (like this one), I can forgive lapses of plausibility. The episode probably ended the way it had to, and the best way it could have, by taking slapstick violence to a new, unheard of, level. Don't miss the bit after the ending credits!
