Noir - 6: Lost Kitten

Title:Noir
Episode:6: Lost Kitten
Synopsis
In the former Soviet Union, Kirika and Mirielle's latest target is a seemingly kind, generous man who works without pay to feed the poor. Though idolized by the destitute, he is in fact former KGB officer Yuri Nazarov, who once ordered the virtual extermination of the Tashkil ethnic minority. The normally emotionless Kirika finds herself smiling at a lost kitten and cannot resist bringing it back to the hotel. The thought occurs to her that unlike her, the cat may have a genuine name. Later, she runs into the Kitten's owner--Nazarov...
Comments
An episode with a surprisingly low body count! Nazarov may have been a heartless executioner at one time, but not only has he done some penitence, he may also have had an understandable reason for doing what he did. In a way, he's not all that different from Kirika and Mirielle. Plus, assasinating him may be pointless. So, not just another target who clearly deserves to die. Considering how skillfully all these ethical quandries were built up, the ending seemed anti-climactic to me. At least we know that Kirika is capable of affection towards cats!
