Stretch: Here's my bizarre theory about the significance of the giant female Titan (might be a spoiler): it is the resurrection of Eren's mother. She had also been exposed to whatever it was that enables him to transform into a Titan. That's why it is seeking him out, not to kill him. In most shows there would neither be any need nor would I have any inclination to try to figure out what's going on, since they would be so simplistic. But this is a neat show which keeps us guessing, and guessing is fun.
