Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai - 12: There's No Way My Little Sister's Life Counseling Can End Like This (Version 1: Good End / Version 2: True Route)

Title:Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai
Episode:12: There's No Way My Little Sister's Life Counseling Can End Like This (Version 1: Good End / Version 2: True Route)
Synopsis
Kirino suddenly is really nice to Kyousuke, and then asks him to do a last "life counseling" for him, by buying an eroge for her when it's on sale - at midnight in Akihabara. But the real problems for Kyousuke begin when Kirino asks him to play the game together.

The branch point between the "Good End" variant (aired as episode 12 on TV) and the "True End" variant (released via WWW, preparing three more episodes to be released on DVD later in 2011) is when Kirino asks Kyousuke to make a choice about reading the album. There's two storyline differences before that point but they're not important; both routes share about 70% of material.
Comments
Devil Doll:
An intricate non-event. If that purchase event was meant to be funny then I might have missed something. And as always, Kirino can't just say what's important, takes forever for saying one little line, and even reconsiders in the crucial moment... good heavens.
The climax scene (with the game doing what Kirino couldn't say) was the best part of this episode, once again being hit-and-miss at the same time. This "ending" demands a sequel of sorts; at least we'll be getting a second end via the OVAs.

The "True End" variant has one nice and one ugly surprise before the branch point; it is much more appropriate for the story development so far, and the final line of this episode made my heart skip a beat.
Stretch:
In the final episode, something seems to have changed with Kirino--there are unprecedented incidents of politeness. But before long she is swearing and striking as usual. It almost seems as if she suffers from some sort of emotional disorder which involves wildly fluctuating moods. Kirino never made much sense to me. Her constantly varying emotions made her virtually impossible to predict or understand. Just when a coincidence seems to make her true feelings clear, she head butts him? Was she just pretending to hate Kyousuke all along, to conceal a genuine affection? Does that make an ounce of sense? I wonder if the choice she makes regarding going to America is good news for Kyousuke or bad.
