Stretch: It's not a good sign when I think to myself that the makers of a show should have let me, a complete amateur, do a rewrite of the script, since I could clearly have done a better job than they did. It's obvious to me that two characters shouldn't be trying to kill each other one minute, and be friends the next. The problems wouldn't be all that difficult to fix, by rewording a little dialogue, but apparently the paid staff either never recognized them or were too lazy to do anything about them. This is probably the biggest weakness of this show--the sloppy development. Characters seem to have simplistic minds which operate in either 'I will kill you' or 'we are the best of friends' mode, and snap back and forth as if someone was flicking a switch somewhere. It makes me want to beat my head against a wall out of sheer frustration, since the plot as a whole is interesting. Mirai Nikki had infinitely more potential than its staff was able to realize. It feels like a good story which got a mediocre conversion to anime, which is a terrible waste.
