Spoiler: This is the episode I was counting on to make sense of the rest of the series. So, Yuuichi's "memory loss" was in fact the result of his repressing painful memories of an accident which placed his childhood friend Ayu into a coma. That makes some sense. However, it brings up a new question: how many of the events of Kanon were dreams and how many were reality? Some were so weird--like a girl having the spirit of a fox, or swordfights with demons, that they could only be explained as dreams. Practically every episode began with a mention of dreaming, after all. And then again maybe I'm not supposed to make sense of it all, rather just go with it. There was an undeniable dramatic power to this final episode, which I felt even though I was in a state of confusion.
