So finally this series managed to provide a really good cliffhanger. One of the best episodes in this anime (once you've accepted how Yuuichi has feelings for this girl that's so much younger and more childish compared to Mai-senpai), with lots of nice details. Ayu's second wish is strongly hinted at, and what happened at this place was strongly hinted at in the previous episode already. Four more episodes to go, covering the final two episodes of Kanon 2002... it's just that they aren't likely to deliver the heroic Kanon 2002 ending any more, they already cut this path of the story (although the camera angles imply the same events - perhaps they show the crucial scene in a flashback later?).

For me, it was a bit of a stretch for Yuuichi to suddenly confess that he loved Ayu. I say this because in many ways, one would have thought he had stronger feelings for Shiori up to episode 19. But, knowing how K2000 goes, I already knew that Ayu was the one he'd end up with. Juggling so many stories with different girls is difficult, but I wonder if there could have been a way to do it and still make it seem like he favored Ayu the most.

There was one scene that I found rather interesting in that it really caught my attention, and that was Yuuichi's treatment of Makoto's cat when it was looking for some attention on his bed. Twice he brushed it aside with his leg. Maybe the anime writers meant nothing by it other than to kill some time, but I can't help but think that this is an acknowledgement on their part of the sweeping aside of Mai, Makoto, and Shiori for this episode, or if it is something else. I guess I'll learn soon enough.

Stretch:
Well, I think I finally figured out what Ayu's lost item is (probably several episodes after everyone else did). What was the deal with Ayu's school? And Yuuichi doesn't even know what his aunt does? It's like the only parts of other people's lives that really exist are the ones that affect Yuuichi. For example, did Ayu think she had a school, just because Yuuichi expected her to? Is everything that has happened all one highly detailed (but not 100% complete) dream that Yuuichi has been having?
