Gantz - 6: All Right!

Title:Gantz
Episode:6: All Right!
Synopsis
One evening Kei returns to his apartment and finds Kishimoto has dozed off outside his door. In a roundabout manner she asks if he can keep her there like a "pet". Being the horny pervert that he is, Kei cannot believe his good luck and jumps to some conclusions about just exactly what she meant. She takes a bath, which unfortunately reminds her of her own suicide attempt, and her discovery that her "original" self survived. Kato finds that Ayumu (his little brother) has been beaten up by the aunt they live with. We meet a member of the Kamikaze motorcycle gang--his name may be "Rasetsu"--who has a wife and child. While hanging out with his fellow gang members, they get into an argument with a respectable citizen. Also, a grandmother is taking care of her grandson overnight. Back at Kei's apartment, he is certain he is finally about to "score"...
Comments
A major lull in the violence we've come to expect from Gantz--yeah, one guy gets the crap beaten out of him, but not in nearly as shocking a manner as the last episode. I was left wondering why the hell we are introduced to the grandmother and grandchild, when no relationship to any character we are familiar with is revealed. Likewise this biker guy--though the preview of the next disc suggests he'll be one of the next set of recruits that Gantz calls to service. A revamped OP sequence also gives some glimpses of the aliens that the team will be taking on in the near future. I notice that the dub version of this show includes a good deal more profanity than the subbed one--the words "fucking", "bitch" and "ass" are tacked on in the space of two sentences. Come to think of it, I guess one of the things about anime which appeals to me is how relatively optimistic it's attitude towards life is--which is a strange comment to make with regards to a dark, disturbing show like Gantz.
