The word is that Yoshitaka has somehow managed to go bankrupt, and his estate has been purchased by lifelong enemy Sugita Takami. However, Sugita proposes a contest--if she loses she'll return the mansion, but if she wins she gets Mitsuki(?)! Izumi doesn't want to gamble with her sister, though Mitsuki urges her to accept the challenge. It is learned that Yoshitaka has been injured when he tumbled down a staircase. The girls visit him, and he reveals that Sugita plotted behind his back to cheat him out of his fortune and household. Yoshitaka seems to have had a change of heart, and regrets exploiting people. He expects no help from the girls, but Izumi is pissed at him for giving up so easily--and at herself for "running away" from problems. She resolves to accept Sugita's challenge. On the fateful day, Sugita reveals that she wants Mitsuki because she is worth as much as the mansion, and then some (!). Mitsuki proposes that the contest consist of searching through a large pile of Yoshitaka's discarded safes to find the item which is most important to him. Sugita agrees, since she gets a kick out of this invasion of Yoshitaka's privacy. She presumes the largest safe will be the one they are after, whereas Izumi notices a strange aura eminating from a relatively small one... |
