Steampunk: (Genre) Considered a subgenre of fantasy and speculative fiction (Sci-Fi), Steampunk generally refers to stories which are based on English Victorian era technology in which steam was the primary power source or use Victorian era values as a reference point, and will often have a futuristic spin as part of the story. The novels of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne's are cited as classic examples of this high-tech innovation in a low-tech world genre.
