Single office worker Saku Fukuzawa once brought home an abandoned black kitten that was at risk of freezing to death amid a winter storm. But 'Yukichi' has become no ordinary cat: he is as big as a bear and as intelligent as a human (though he does not speak). He acts as Fukuzawa's housekeeper, cooking and cleaning for her and keeping her in line.

(One episode watched):

OK, Fukuzawa has a sort of cat-man keeping her apartment in order, but then what? The basic set of jokes seems to be that Yukichi can do whatever a butler would, plus acts as a sort of big brother when she drinks too much beer or sleeps too late. This is modestly amusing (to a point) but not exactly laugh-out-loud funny. When the impossible Yukichi was revealed to us I sat up and took notice, since this obviously would need an explanation. But the explanation we get is a minimal one: this cat just grew up bigger and smarter than most. Nobody knows why or seems to care all that much. He is no secret to the other tenants of Fukuzawa's building. Her boss mentions that he has 'met' this cat before, but doesn't elaborate. Anyway, I was somewhat underwhelmed by the whole premise of this show. Yukichi doesn't speak (except in the preview for episode two), so there can't be amusing interplay between him and Fukuzawa. No longterm plot seems to be coming together either. So, where is this going? Or, more to the point, where can this go?
