This show is painfully unfunny, but the strategy seems to have been more one of fanservice than comedy. Wouldn't it be awesome if a girl you liked needed to get within inches of your face just to recognize you, and was such a ditz that she was unaware that boys and girls aren't supposed to do that? We never see her panties or get a close-up of her chest, but this show seems to take a more sophisticated tack on fanservice, if such a thing is possible. I wondered if this might be a one-time short OVA rather than the first episode of a new series, because I didn't see how this nearsightedness gag could possibly be carried on for twelve episodes or so when it wasn't even particularly funny in the first one. Judging from the preview, it looks like each episode will be built around something odd that Mie does (in episode two, she'll ask Komura out, or at least he'll draw that conclusion). But again this show was not funny at all and the characters are simplistic, which means the fanservice was not particularly exciting. It was a waste to devote good quality animation to it (including unusual camera angles, like a view from the heels of a walking person (and not to see up a girl's skirt). This was a show during which I was impatient for the credits to roll.
