Basically, Mash is so strong that he can deflect magic spells by punching them as they come at him. That's the basic secret of this show. For all intents and purposes, Mash possesses a sort of magic which counteracts other people's magic, and then he can deal with them with his fists. So, not as novel as I had expected. This show had a sort of One Piece feel to it--a simple, dopey, silly tone. Mash is such a dimwit, who has trouble even opening a door. After he is discovered by the Magic Police but demonstrates his incredible strength, he's given a chance to save himself by learning a minimal level of magic at a magical academy. So, it looks like the three guys in the OP sequence will be his classmates there. I guess this show was OK, but I was neither thrilled nor repelled by it. As slow as he seems to be, Mash can think of clever ways of simulating magic with brute force--like the way he makes it look like he can fly on a broom in episode three (spoiler: it would never work in real life). I decided that this show fell into the category of ones that I did not really want to watch at the moment, but since it almost met that standard I would save it and maybe watch it later.
