The part about how things had gotten messed up and Takumi had wound up in his situation was sort of amusing, though largely a re-tread of a premise we've seen before. Afterwards things were pretty typical: a guy in a videogame-like world who has found a way to level up and acquire skills like crazy. Virtually everything he does seems to result in one or the other. He rescues a girl, Molly, from a vicious carnivorous rabbit and in return is led to her town, Bord, where he amazes everyone at how highly skilled in all sorts of fields he is. He sets up an alchemist's shop in the small home that was built for him as thanks for saving Molly, and finds he can do pretty much anything he wishes. He tames a large and deadly poisonous spider, names it 'Maple' and keeps it as a pet/bodyguard. The signs are that Takumi will assemble a harem of hot girls around himself. Who wouldn't like to have everything going their way like this? But it all seemed rather dull and predictable to me. Yet another story in which instead of earning the respect of others the protagonist gets it via skills that have basically been gifted to him. And we haven't gotten to know Takumi, we just know what skills he has gathered. It could be argued that his skills are his personality. I wasn't sure if the Keyword 'comedy' was justified since there were no truly laughworthy jokes. The one thing that made me want to know more was the scene where the three teens who were summoned to the Empire of Sidonia get their briefing, and Akane uses her newly bestowed skill of 'Revelation' to sense that there's something funny going on. Also, it is mentioned that for some reason Lady Nolyn has sent Takumi one year into the past. But even here the chances are that this will be an unremarkable and easily forgettable show. Episode two didn't excite me either. Takumi brings a modern-day comfort that he cannot do without to this world (he must have gained the knowledge of a plumber and a maker of porcelain by leveling up). He goes to the city and registers as an adventurer because there is no alchemist's guild. The healing potions he can easily mass produce are highly valuable and sought after. He is advised to buy a slave to assist him in his workshop, a slave who will be somehow magically incapable of leaking any secrets that Takumi may share. This, of course, will be a hot looking girl and the first member of Takumi's harem. But there was nothing more about the three summoned heroes and I didn't sense any overarching conflict coming together. Like many isekai series this was largely feeling like an exercise in wishful thinking. Last updated Wednesday, January 29 2025. Created Saturday, January 18 2025. |
