I'm not sure what to make of this show; I was surprised by the DC and Warner Bros. credits going in when I had assumed that it would be another (hopefully above average) isekai anime. It strikes me as a sort of blend of isekai and a team of American anti-superheroes (each of the five main characters has a creator with a western name). There are plenty of quite impossible stunts, which annoys me, as if we are supposed to like these five because they are very good at wrecking things and hurting people. Some sort of high tech experiment is being conducted, to open a gateway to this alternate world, I guess. It looks like there's a second team of superheroes waiting to fight these five, including Katana, a sword-wielding girl who appeared on Earth previously. But just what is going on remains a mystery to me after episode one. I don't know if I want to watch an Americanized isekai series; my impression so far is that there will be lots of action and some humor, but whether there will be much of a plot remains an unknown. Despite helping the government win a skirmish (it seemed to be treated as a major battle in parliament) the five newcomers are thrown into prison. If the orcs or whatever that they fought were helpless against them, why did they submit to ordinary soldiers? The haughty and arrogant Queen could not care less about them but her daughter joins Sir Cecil (the black-eyed knight from episode one) in taking an interest in them. The five meet another transplant from our world in prison and it looks like this guy will effectively be a sixth member of the squad. They conduct a breakout. The way Clayface would probe the fourth wall was amusing at times. But the plot isn't really seeming all that novel so far--which ironically, makes this all the more a typical isekai series. Maybe the idea is to lampoon typical isekai tropes like the beautiful Princesses who often become involved, but so far I'm not really seeing it. I hope there will be more to this show that is original than the bizarre main characters. Another typical thing about isekai anime is that the newcomers almost always have or quickly get extraordinary powers of a magical or some other sort, and here the main characters have each brought a special ability with them.
