To put this in the right order. Doraemon has been around for about twenty years. yes that is a darn long time. No-wonder it is unbelievibly popular in Japan. Simply its puts you into a story about a boy (Nobita) who's cat friend was sent from the future. In Doraemon's or other name, Ding Dong he carries many nifty gadgets like a portable door, game machines and futuristic weapons. The original series hass been going for a long time and there are countless seasions. To be truthful the series isnt that great with the plot and scenes always set in the same place like Nobita's home, school or a little adventure. Nothing special. However it is totally appropiate for kids to watch and brings alot of imagination to your mind. On the otherhand movies were made. One was made every year where Nobita, Doraemon and their friends go on an adventure to some unknown place or situations like pirate ships, super monkey, magic carpet, space ships, monsters and heavan. These are not to be missed. They are much better than the series itself so I do recommend you buy the movies. An outstanding masterpiece fit for all ages including adults. Really, like Sesen said "this series fits all rating category (Buy, rent, watch, and also avoid) well, depending on how u look at it." How do i put it...... it is like a childhood memory of older people. Doraemon brings you joy and laughters. It might even remind and let you re-live your childhood memories. However, the plot is very very old, and the ending is always happy. It would be good if you watch a few episodes or OAVs, but it gets boring after that. You practically know the ending by the half way point of the movie. However, this anime is warm and touching... it is mainly about the unbreakable friendship between Doraemon and Nobi taku.

If only according to the rating, this should be an Anime series to be avoied, but If u ask anyone older than 6 living in Japan, 99% of them would know this Series. It's old. The original comicer drawing has been lying in his grave. However, it's really famous in Japan. Interestingly, this series fits all rating category (Buy, rent, watch, and also avoid) well, depending on how u look at it. There is no focus in Doraemon. All it's about is creative imagination and sometimes exciting adventure. It would be fun for young children, but it might not be so enjoyable for older kids and ppl beyond age 12 (I"m an exception though). Doraemon brings people's imagination beyond a great level at its time. Even now ppl find that its enjoyable and outstanding imagination is hard to approach. Last updated Friday, January 03 2003.
