Subaru is a junior high student that loves the stars. One day, after school, she meets aliens from Pleiades in outer space. The Pleiadesians said they summoned a helper from Earth to collect engine parts so that they could repair the interstellar immigrant ship that broke down in the Earth's orbit. However, for some reason they summoned one but ended up with five helpers. The five girls assigned to be "wizards" all are lacking something, and even when they try to combine their powers, they're always mismatched and failing. On top of it, a mysterious boy appears. In order to help a hapless alien, with the power of infinite possibilities due to immaturity as their weapon, Subaru and the other four fly around to gather parts while nurturing their friendship.

Hōkago no Pleiades
This is largely a pretty by-the-numbers magical girl series involving a group of middle school girls tasked by an alien to collect parts of its spaceship while given magical powers that gradually make them more powerful as they gain possession of the pieces and contend with a rival magic user attempting to get the pieces for himself. The characters largely have their simple personality types they stick with throughout Wish Upon the Pleiades' run and the identity of the antagonist is pretty easy to spot in early episodes. I get the gist this series may be aimed for younger audiences, hence the more straightforward storytelling and character personalities. But the show's dabbling into physics for later episodes may fly over the heads of younger viewers. So not sure whom this series is meant to be appealing toward specifically. But regardless, the storytelling and characters for this series are too familiar territory for me to want to watch this again anytime soon.
