(Two episodes watched): While watching the opening scene of episode one, I asked myself if season one of this show had been as kinky as this, with full-breasted girls competing to rub them against their hero, Diablo. The opening scene of S2 set a pretty low bar, with a tentacle rape nearly taking place, and I decided that until I made certain that I had indeed watched the first season to its conclusion I would hold off on this incarnation. I had to check these things, because while it had been modestly amusing the original series hadn't exactly been a brilliant and memorable show. It turns out that yes, I had watched it in its entirety and yes, it was pretty fanservice-heavy. Perhaps it wouldn't be too much of a sacrifice to re-watch the final episode in order to refresh my memory about where things stand. Anyway, a new arc opens with the new character Lumachina, and this show seemed a good deal less ecchi after the opening scene, which was modestly encouraging. It looks like there will be a plot after all, not just borderline pornography. Episode two includes a scene of the elf girl (naked) washing (naked) Diablo's back. The plot, on the other hand, wasn't exactly exciting me. Maybe the problem is that it is still unclear just what the central plot will be. A battle against corruption? A powerful sorceress seems to be using her position as province governor (or something like that) to enrich herself at the expense of the common folk. But it looks like more time and effort is being invested in the scenes of big breasted women virtually begging to be groped by Diablo than in the main storyline. I decided that I could see where this was going: an uninteresting, half-assed plot that is little more than an excuse for the fanservice, and might not even manage to match the meager quality standard set by season one.
