Accelerator, the most powerful psychic in Academy City, is quietly recovering from his injuries when trouble literally lands in his bedroom. A group of anti-evil zealots who call themselves “DA” are causing havoc, and it could threaten the city―not to mention the entire world. Although he hates to be bothered, a world-shaking threat may be enough to get Accelerator out of bed, especially if it involves the adorable Misaka Mikoto clone, “Last Order.”

Based off the 'A Certain Scientific' series, this spin-off focuses on the character, Accelerator (the number one ranked esper in Academy City). This review will be for those who want to continue the main series. If you are not familiar with the main series, you can go here: https://anime.mikomi.org/series/1850/To Aru Majutsu no Index.html

In this spin-off, Accelerator is involved with a mysterious girl who needs his help taking down an organization called Disciplinary Action (D.A.). D.A. is considered to be the true protectors of Academy City and will hand out punishment to those who are in their way. It's basically another terrorist group wanting to take over plot. It's nothing new but considering that it involves Accelerator's own spin-off made me interested. If you are familiar with 'A Certain Scientific Index' then there's really no need to explain who Accelerator is. For those who are not, Accelerator is a powerful psychic who has the ability to manipulate vectors. It's like a very version of what telekinesis. Instead of just solid objects, Accelerator can control the elements, sound, speed, etc. It's too involved but in the end Accelerator is pretty much a bad ass. Accelerator is the reason why I stuck with the main series and why I own this spin-off.

In perspective, it's nice to see that Accelerator has his own spin-off. He's a character that portrays himself as an 'evil' person and what he tries to strive for (especially in the main series where he starts as an evil character). This series actually exploits his powers a lot more than the main series. This makes this spin-off more action oriented where the main series tends to focus more on politics and morality in the latter part. It also features the character Last Order (the main part of the Misaka network) who's involvement with Accelerator makes him more of a human than what he portrays himself as. It's a welcome change to Accelerator and shows the beginning of his reversal from 'evil' to 'good'. It's not a sudden change but a more gradual as you watch.

For those who are looking for a more action oriented series, this should be on your radar. Those who are new to this series, you're doing yourself a disservice to yourself by not watching the main series. There are too many things in this series that would completely throw you off. Do yourself a favor and go watch the main series before you watch this.

Unevaluated Stretch [series:3741#628]
One episode watched:

This was a show for which I copied the ANN synopsis, because I had little idea what was going on even after watching episode one myself. Accelerator, a level 5 Esper, is recovering from an injury in a hospital when three teenagers come there, apparently to steal a sample of his DNA (or something like that) because such a thing would be very valuable. 'Atmospheric Continuum Mechanics' (whatever that is), play some sort of a part in the plot. But these three teens are hardly formidable opponents. Two of them apparently wouldn't hurt a fly, and it became clear that somehow, for all the mayhem, nobody was going to get seriously injured here (IIRC). Was this the show where a guy got his hand chopped off, or was that another one? I can't remember. The third teen uses some sort of Nitrogen powered chainsaw-like device, but I have no idea if such a thing is really possible or not. Basically, fancy weapons but nobody ever gets serious about using them. The fights were pretty lame, it seemed that the drama regarding them was forced, and in the end, nothing came of them anyway (other than wholesale damage to a building). The basic plot seemed fairly predictable and unremarkable; nothing really unusual or intriguing happens. None of the characters struck me as likeable or interesting (and Misaka annoyed me). And we don't get much of an explanation of what's going on anyway; just who is Accelerator? A mysterious guy with tremendous psychic powers who would rather be left alone but doesn't take shit from anyone--that's about all we end up knowing. Apparently the main conflict will come along later and this episode was only supposed to introduce us to Accelerator, but it barely even did that. The message I'm getting is that we are supposed to like Accelerator because he can kick ass, not because he will have an interesting personality. Basically, a fine example of how not to write the opening episode of a new series. The story here seemed so confused and headache inducing that I decided not to watch any more.
