I try to avoid watching any series categorized "Shounen Ai". Just not my flavor of anime. However, I picked this one up not realizing it. But I ended up enjoying the series as a whole. Art, Animation & Character Designs Artwork was pretty good. Unfortunately, it suffered from the typical Shounen Ai style of artwork.... where all the guys look the same and suppose to be good looking. Sorry ladies, I just can't seem to look at them and say "hot". Details were really good and for the most part, the series had an air of darkness to it.... due to the artwork of course. Music The OP was kick-assed... rather, the initial riff was kick-assed. A hard-rock jam with hard electric guitars and fast drums. Now that's my flavor. We don't get much these in anime so it's a nice welcome. The soundtrack throughout the series was mostly made up of rock and hard-rock pieces... electric guitars, drums and such. Not too shabby! The ED was another nice rock piece and reminded me.... hmmmm, where have I heard this one? Series and Episode Story This series was suprising pretty decent. As mentioned above, I try to avoid Shounen Ai series. In fact, I can't recall seeing any aside from this one. So this might be my first. The plot wasn't too bad. It develops a few surprises and throws out enough details to force you to watch the next episode. There's some nice plot twists and the end was surprisingly pretty ok. There was pretty cool characters, and pretty ruthless ones as well. With that said, we have a fair amount of blood and violence. The setting, being all urban and filled with killers, thugs and drug abusers, we get to see experience the life therein. Being a Shouen Ai, there was some elements to the story that turned me off. I can't say it was "bad" but rather, stuff I'd rather not watch. Some of the guys just seemed a bit too close to each other if you know what I mean. I suppose it's ok if it doesn't bother you. To each his own I suppose. Overall, the plot was good, the artwork was good (aside from the Shounen Ai style of characters), and the soundtrack had some nice pieces. Not a bad series.
