Since Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure is now officially part of the canon Tenchi Muyo! franchise, I recommend can we add it to the list?

Ah, I see that Masaki Kajishima is the 'original creator' of both of these shows.

Considering the Tenchi-like character design of the male lead, having a harem of girls interested in him, and a godlike mecha with the power of Lighthawk Wings, I'm not surprised.

The GXP novels from Kajishima-sensei is where it became official. And that's why the "Dual!" characters (or rather their technical reincarnations) show up in Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki OVA 5.

Nice to know. Now if only said novels and the other supplemental material could leave Japan. Kind of soured on the Tenchi franchise since recent installments of it make nods to said material that's hard enough to find info on online.

On the occasions I've had to reach out to Becca outside Mikomi due to server issues, it was via email. Think last time I contacted her, her email was anime@mikomi.org.

I guess in the meantime, I'll do my reviews offline and wait it out for now.

I tried to contact Becca yesterday via e-mail, but the address I used seemed out of date. Today I tried to send her another using yours, and it seems to have gone through.

@kbanger I don't see any obvious errors in the logs. There was a minor misconfiguration, but it wouldn't break just one person. I'm dropping an email to you at the address on your account. Just sent a reply back with the error message that comes up.

Turns out the problem was a non-numeric value for "Episode Story". Apparently there's no field validation in the code, so the database was yelling about it instead.

Really? It used to never give me any problems when I did it in the past. I'll change that then. Thank you!

It was almost certainly caused by an update to the database program. There's probably a config I could set to restore the old behavior...

Stretch, not sure if I'd consider Netflix a physical licensor per say. While they exclusively license anime for streaming, they've never released an anime in any physical format like DVD and Blu-Ray.

Do we have a definition somewhere of what the qualifications to be an R1 licensor are (like for what a'historical' series is?)?

To be honest, no. Don't think we ever made rulings on how we labeled things for streaming services, especially as this site's been around since the late 90s well before streaming sites for anime were a thing.

I tried to delete Netflix from Notables but the system won't let me.

You still had it added to Komi-san wa Comyushou desu and the Notable wouldn't delete while linked to any series page. I removed mention of it from the page and it's now deleted.

Just posted my 2100th review on Mikomi covering Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel.

Keep up the good work! Fate/Stay Night sure has a lot of incarnations.

Many of them are spinoffs. Some being light novel adaptations that attempt their own spin on the premise of the Stay Night series. Others being adaptations of video game series doing the same sort of thing.

Today's the big day--the first new anime of the Winter 2022 season have arrived. And, as luck(?) would have it, the site I usually download from is f---ed up, as it has been for a week or so.

I'll update Current Favorites at the end of next week with whatever gets my interest. Winter season's just started, so a little early right now to say what will get my interest.

Good news! I found a way around the blocked front door of the Anime Tosho website and can download a torrent of Winter 2022 fansubs. The trick is to go through the 'AnimeTosho Proxy' website. (everyone else probably already knew this)

I have a few other options at my disposal to see ongoing anime, which don't involve that site in question.

After watching the new anime 'Love of Kill' I added a new category, 'Assassin(s). I figured I should be able to find four or five shows of the type--but there are in fact dozens!

The new shows of the Winter season are falling by the wayside with alarming speed. I wonder if I'll be able to count the ones that are really worth watching on the fingers of one hand.

It is getting harder and harder for me to reach the Mikomi website. It used to be that typing 'anime mikomi' was more than enough to be sent right here by Bing, now those words bring up a list of about every option except this website. I had to take a roundabout route through an image I once used to create a page to get here today. Google will bring me here but I must enter my password, which doesn't seem to register anymore.

I'd recommend either typing anime.mikomi.org into your address bar to get here or bookmarking. Duckduckgo seems to have the same problems as Bing. I'm curious about your Google issues though? It works fine for me without any password prompting anywhere along the line?

I guess the basic problem is that my computer decided to make Bing my default search engine even though I never requested it--I guess me just using it once was enough to convince the computer that I wanted it all of the time. If I use Bing to go to Google, I'm sent here without trouble and don't have to enter my password (I just figured this out today).

Since you had some problems logging in I'd recommend going to "Edit your profile" and setting a new password there. Also make sure that the email there is up to date, so you can use the "forgot my password" feature if it happens again.

OK, I have reset my password (I didn't know I could do that until now).

...which was good news, since I sent my computer iin for an overhaul, and some important programs, like uTorrent, were uninstalled! I am struggling to get everything working again.

The only other new anime I'm watching this season is "Shachiku-san wa Yо̄jo Yuurei ni Iyasaretai"

I'm only about halfway through week two episodes, so I don't really have a favorite yet, but I'm enjoying Heroine Tarumono, Virgin Road, and Yuusha, Yamemasu.

Have five I've chosen to commit to for the season.

Well, almost every season seems to have a lot of hits early on, but after watching two episodes worth I still have around 20 series that I might watch to the end. In most seasons only around 7 make it that far.

Most sites like ANN and MAL have the two seasons as separate entries for their title listings since they were ran on separate seasons. So I'd say keep them separate. Highly doubt I'm watching the second one as well. My interest in the series waned after its first season.

It seems that there is a sort of unwritten rule that if there is a gap of three months or more between two parts of a series, then they count as different shows.

There are so few neat shows this season that I find I must limit myself to just one new episode per night.

I have started rewatching several old series due to the shortage of fresh episodes.

Well, for once I have pretty much finished watching all of last season's shows before the new ones arrive. That's because the pickings were relatively meagre last season so there were fewer to check out and fewer worth watching to the end.

Finally finished with the initial reviews of new Winter 2023 series! Last season I watched only five series to completion, but this season it could easily be a dozen or more.

Forget what I just said. While there were lots of new shows in the Winter season, they turned out to be distinctly disappointing. At one point I had thought it would be weeks into the Spring season before I finished watching them all, but in the end only six seemed worth following to the end. There were no 'stars' like Akiba Maid Wars last season, IMO.

At the rate this is looking, my viewing of current season titles is gonna be the most stacked I've had it in quite some time.

Thanks. I have never fully understood what it is about anime that I like, but other than some PBS stuff and sports it is about the only TV I watch.

I will go through my DVD/BD collection of stuff (B5, TNG, DS9, British comedy shows, etc.), but anime is mostly the only thing I watch new stuff for.

I'm 'cleaning up' my Winter 2023 reviews, which involves inserting the total number of episodes and making any final comments that are necessary to complete the reviews.

Surprised to see that Evangelion is tagged cyberpunk and Roujin Z -isn't-. (I finally got around to watching Cyberpunk Edgerunners and was somehow more reminded of Roujin Z than other more mainstream titles.) (Genres are hard to agree on, probably cyberpunk more than most -- Blue Sub 6 surprises me by its presence on the Cyberpunk tag as well, though honestly I barely remember beyond the early CG, and it being released one episode at a time.)

Not sure I'd consider those particular titles cyberpunk as both took place in near-future settings. Cyberpunk is more associated with significant technological advancements and societal decay within a future dystopian world.

I swear, to the best of my memory I did not assign those keywords. If Ggultra 2764 didn't either, it must have happened a good while ago. I doubt if anyone would care if they were changed.

It took me more than half of the Summer season just to watch the first episode of (almost) every show, but now I'm rapidly catching up since only three struck me as definitely worth watching: Mushoku Tensei II, Helck, and Zom 100.

I had assumed that the Fall season wouldn't begin until at least Oct. 1, but yesterdat (9/29) there were new anime on the internet!

Since we had two pages for the same show (Frieren) I converted yours to a page for another show, S-Rank Musume, since mine had a preliminary review. But I neglected to move the Japanese website address to the remaining page. Oops...

Lately it seems like every other day I get a message of 'Service Unavailable' when I try to log on here at Mikomi. 'The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems'.

Is the problem still going on? I've checked in a couple of times recently and no issue.

It seems to have gone away. But I have no idea what caused it and whether it might return at some point.

From what Bella explained in her emails to me a few weeks ago on the issue, it looked like the server was going down every other day and then rebooting itself overnight. But appears all is resolved for now.

As I get older, I find I don't want to write as much, to say nothing of lack of time. And most folks these days want video reviews.

Whew! Yesterday, the site was not accessible. Today, it loads insanely slow, almost as if it is under a DDoS attack.

Mikomi has been 'Service Unavailable' for me almost every day for the last two weeks or so. When it does run, it is so slow as to be almost useless. Did you get the e-mail I sent you, Rebecca?

I think I have managed to copy all of my reviews onto my own computer, just in case.

Yeah, I exported all of my reviews. I do think the site is under DDoS. That would account for the slowness and unreachable state.

Ok, apparently there was a badly behaved robot hosted on Alibaba's cloud that was hammering the site into the ground. I've blocked their subnet at the network level, and things seem stable now.

I would be completely helpless if it were not for you, Rebecca. While the website was effectively down for 40 plus days I wondered if it would ever revive and I realized how much I enjoy posting here, even if I am alone.

Error logs show some regular attempts at SQL injection from a host on Amazon EC2. While those requests were blocked, I wonder if they caused additional issues. Regardless, I've banned the entire EC2 block of IPs, as those will never be normal users.
