Synopsis
It has been three months since Touji and Momo broke up. New class lists are being posted, and Momo prays "God, Buddha... please let me be in a different class than Sae this year!" But, as it turns out, Momo, Sae, Touji and Kairi are all in the same class. She had hoped to be in a different class from Touji to help her move on and start a new life. "When we pass in the hall, we don't speak or even look at each other anymore" she observes. Momo notices that when she's with Kairi, Sae doesn't try to mess with her since "he's the one person she can't get her way with". Kairi knows this, and stays nearby to protect her. While on a class hike, other girls ask her if she and Kairi are secretly going out. On the other hand, classmates ask Sae if she really is going out with Touji, since he acts more like her servant than a boyfriend. It grates Sae to see Momo laughing again with her friends. After an incident in which Momo gets slightly burned, sae accuses Touji of still being in love with her. Kairi has a clique of female admirers who are annoyed at how close Momo seems to have gotten to him--and Sae overhears their argument. Momo is troubled by the incident and falls behind on the hike, and Sae tricks her into taking the wrong trail...

I just don't get it. Having for all intents and purposes been rejected by Touji, Momo is again tempted to get involved with Kairi. But given the conclusions she reached, why did they wind up kissing? Kairi's parable of the peach seed wasn't all that moving (or understandable)--but the joke was good. Still no explanation why Touji lets himself be utterly manipulated by Sae--you'd think in three months he would've come up with an idea. My guess is that either the school nurse or Jigoro will come forward to expose Sae's blackmail scheme (she didn't try anything particularly outrageous in this episode, which is unusual). As a whole, his episode was disappointing--I really wanted it to be better. My impression is of a lot of clever touches, but poorly organized. I like this series and hope it pulls itself together again.
