Nana Yamigumo visits AMP and asks her sister Nami to see her grandfather. Mana Isozaki seems to know her well and tells the AMP girls that Nami will be on vacation for a week. Nami's family have always been priests.

At home, Nami performs a ritual cleaning, then meets her grandfather, who hands her (being the youngest of three siblings) the holy family sword to become his successor.

At night, Namis dreams about her childhood and her first confrontation with monsters - she had a hard time back then. Awakening, for a short moment she sees a child sitting in her room's corner, crying.

Nami is about to leave, and wonders why she became the successor and none of her older siblings. When she kneels down to pray at some sacred stone, suddenly the environment changes ... her sword is flying away from her, and she hears a child's voice: "Now it's mine!"

After making her way through some tunnel and fighting off several monsters with her magic abilities, Nami ends up on a clearing, listening to seven playing children. All run away except for one, wearing a fox mask, who asks her to play with her, then she will return the sword. When they cannot find any more games, the child suggests to play "devil", and powerful monsters start attacking them instantly ... Nami asks for the sword, but the child responds: "Do you really want it?" Nami takes the sword, but can't draw it.

Suddenly she finds herself alone on some field. The child reappears, but Nami sends her away when a monster attacks that she knows from her childhood training sessions. All her magic having failed soon, she tries to draw the sword, but it still won't work.

Nami has now accepted that this is her test for heritage, and failing might mean death to her. The child reappears and asks her to call it off, as she hated religion anyway and doesn't actually have a reason to become successor, being an AMP member already. Nami refuses, but only when the child asks why she forgot how to cry, Nami recognizes this child is her younger self, the happily playing child she never was allowed to be. Finally reunited with herself, she can now draw the sword and forcefully strike down the monster ... back in the shrine, Nana sees her grandfather's face bleeding: "Well done, Nami!".

Nami finds herself kneeling at the sacred stone again, where she cuts off her long hair to leave it behind.

Stretch:
Well, I didn't find this one to be as much fun as Kiddy's episode was. We didn't learn anything nearly as startling about Nami's background; I thought the most telling remark was that she had only joined AMP because her grandfather wanted her to. It was pretty obvious from the start who the masked child was, and once Nami passed her self-confidence test her opponent was easily dispatched. Still, better to know a little more about her than nothing at all.
