Synopsis
Kirino reminisces on her childhood, when she was very fond of Kyosuke and always looked up to him, until he stopped giving his all and adopted a more relaxed lifestyle. Blaming Manami for the sudden change in him, Kirino confronted her, asking her to give back the brother she loved so much, just to hear from her that the Kyosuke she envisioned never existed in the first place.

Devil Doll: While this flashback episode gives us a lot of answers (so Kirino simply was a bra-con to begin with, and her idol one day failed to stand the reality test; we also learn why she's into track & field and modeling), it poses more questions as well. For example, it doesn't explain why Kirino became an eroge otaku within an instant (other than implying that Kirino was thinking of intimate contact with her brother back then already, which would make her a really weird girl). The episode title is misleading as well: The episode showed us how Kirino learned to accept the real Kyousuke for what he is, not why she would once again idolize him. If Kirino actually had learned her lesson then she should have made her peace with Manami whom she wrongly blamed for stealing her brother and she should have accepted Kuroneko as Kyousuke's girlfriend. Plus the flashback episode is the most anti-climactic ending that would have been possible for the TV airing, leaving the audience hanging in the middle of nowhere, worse even than Silent Mobius. Kudos once again for Manami understanding what happened and speaking the truth - most of the little scenes she has belong to the franchise's best material.
