It seems to be SOP for this show that a neat premise is presented to us, but in the end it isn't exploited to it's full potential. The trick Ben used to make his money early on was amusing and seemed to promise a clever episode. But, again, the climax was disappointing. It was like the bare framework of a good conclusion, with all the intriguing details stripped away. How did Duke smuggle a gun aboard the heavily guarded ship? How did he deflect a thrown knife? What did he use a saxophone case for? It's like the makers' attitude was "Duke's so good that it goes without saying that these things will happen, so we don't have to bother to tell you how". The moment Ben vowed to take on Golgo himself I knew he was as good as dead, but I was watching to see exactly how that would happen. Since the end result is already obvious, there has to be some unexpected, clever, original details about how it comes about--but they don't even give me that. If this show didn't have such a neat premise I'd be beating my head against a wall. Anyway, I thought the scene where Natalie first runs into Duke was pretty cool.
