The confrontation with the demon of the streets (that occurred at the end of episode 1) appears to have unsealed Mashashiro’s Kenki ability. But the situation has also allowed Mashashiro to learn more about the funny mononoke that he calls Mokkun. His father calls him to an appearance in the royal court before one of the royal advisors. While there he chances to meet the royal princess, who has the uncommon Kenki ability and is able to see his companion, Mokkun. Later that night, a fire breaks out at the royal court. With everyone rushing to the fire, Mashashiro senses a strong demonic presence in the vicinity to the princess. Rushing to the dwelling of the princess, Mashashiro and Mokkun find themselves hard pressed to protect her from an attack by a strange shadow demon. The images below cover the confrontation and events thereafter. While they succeed in driving off the creature, Mashashiro is very bashful at having held the princess so tightly during the battle. But after the conflict, the warmth of her gratitude and her quiet charm deeply affect Mashashiro. (And so, the seeds of a future romance are planted …) | |
