Paradise Kiss - 4: George

Title:Paradise Kiss
Episode:4: George
Synopsis
The ParaKiss crew is out shopping for a fabric that would "suit George's image", but they finally conclude that they'll have to create it themselves. The others are dismayed at the difficult pattern George proposes, but he is confident and they are used to tasks like this. "Carrie" (Yukari) offers to help, but Isabelle insists she should study for her exams. She wonders if George has forgotten about promising to take her out to dinner, and is annoyed at his repeatedly ordering her around. She declares that she's not going to study anymore, and will help with the dress instead. George's indifferent attitude thoroughly pisses her off--"I want George to pay a little more attention to me" she tells Isabelle. "All I did until now was studying and living inside a really small world". She is hiding the fact that she has been skipping cram school from her parents. Arashi mistakes Kouda Mikako-san for her little sister Miwako. Mikako is a respected designer and a guest teacher at a class all four ParaKiss members are taking. George reveals to Yukari that he is the illegitimate son of the President of a major corporation, which is why he is independently wealthy. After dinner at a fancy resteraunt he takes her to his fancy apartment, and Yukari telephones her mother with a made-up story about spending the night with a classmate. George starts moving a bit too fast for her; "If you don't like this" he replies, "you shouldn't have come in the first place"...
Comments
It's kind of hard to understand why Yukari became so quickly entranced by George, when they seem to have a sort of love-hate relationship. But whereas Yukari seems to be a pretty average high school girl (perhaps to give the audience somebody they can relate to), George is a fascinatingly unusual person, even if he is often insensitive. Is he a nice guy down deep, or just a jerk? We get a hint in this episode of how his past might have caused him to develop like this. I wonder what the story behind Isabelle is--she hasn't gotten nearly as much character development as the other four main characters.
