Yukari has been given three days to decide whether she will serve as a model for the Parakiss crew. While studying at a library, she runs into George. She talks with him during a break, and is impressed by his "drive", whereas she feels that she is only doing what her parents want her to. She also likes the fact that even though they met by chance, George listened to her own story and took her seriously. She tells him to inform Miwako-chan and the others that she is still seriously considering their offer. "I want to live like them. I really hope I can" she tells herself. Back home, Yukari's little brother tells her that George called that morning, and their meeting wasn't a coincidence after all. "I can't tell when he's serious and when he's lying" Yukari swears. At school, Yukari is flattered when her secret love, Tokumori-kun, complements her on her new hairstyle. She realizes that she's running out of time to decide whether to serve as the Parakiss model, but since Miwako-chan said she could stop by the Atelier anytime, she figures she'll visit to ask some questions--and she walks in on an embarassing situation. Later, while they are running an errand, Miwako admits that she took a look at Yukari's student ID and recognized the photo of Tokumori-kun--is he her boyfriend...? |
I think this is going to be a series that will be worth paying close attention to, taking notes, and writing individual episode reviews. You don't often see such eccentric, unconventional characters in real-life anime--that must be what fascinates Yukari. An ordinary person discovers a previously unknown subculture and becomes intrigued by it; perhaps the closest match I can think of would be Comic Party or Otaku no Video. How old is Miwako-chan? She looks and sounds like a child to me, but apparently is about the same age as Yukari or Arashi. This show employs a strange mix of superdeformed characters, dream sequences, English-language rock music, and all sorts of other tricks I can't keep track of--I like it. |
