| "It is the 22nd year of the New Holy Era. With the fall of the previous era brought about by human folly, lawlessness runs rampant and disorder rules the world. But here in Shinjuku, the City of Beasts, any creature who would harm another must contend with us, one and all. Our wild blood runs hot tonight! Hyper Police to the rescue!" Natsuki and Batanen are two semi-human bounty hunters--she's part cat and he's part wolf. Together, they race the police to apprehend a strange, reptilian creature that threatens to devour two human girls. The girls are saved, but the culprit escapes. Back at "The Police Company", Natsuki and Batanen get a lecture from their boss, Mr. Mudagami, about how important it is to successfully capture suspects, since the firm is in the red. They get another case, and this time take down the perp, but Batanen is injured. He'll be back to normal within a month or so (thanks to a curious trait from his wolf side), and in the meantime Natsuki is assigned a new partner, Naoko Kondo. Kondo, however, is completely human and despises monsters of any sort, including a "cat monster" like Natsuki. Having lost her parents to monsters as a child, she resents serving as Natsuki's back-up and has a shoot-first-ask-questions-later attitude towards any non-human suspects. She insists she be assigned to hunt major criminals, because she's looking for a certain one which both she and Natsuki have seen before... | |

| My first impressions are that this show has a fairly intriguing and amusing premise, even if the plot of this first episode did seem kind of predictable. Hyper Police must have been commercially available at one time, because this fansub was both subbed and dubbed (a "Fansubdub" maybe?). I noticed some distinct differences between the two dialogues; for example: Dub: "We have you surrounded! Hold it right there!" Sub: "I'm warning you. I can do that to you too." I think this one is worth searching for some more episodes at websites or on E-bay. Somehow I have wound up with 1,2,3 & 7. My favorite line: "Such despicable deeds I cannot allow!" --Natsuki | |
