She has spent modest lives, while William lives in a gorgeous society. Although they know they are not allowed to love, but they cannot help being attracted.

The appearances of Hakim of an Indian royal family, Elenor, the third daughter of a viscount add extra touch to the love story. Then, their love is swayed by the objection of William’s father, and the death of Kerry who has taken after Emma since her childhood.

This was like reading a story in a book. Along with pictures and animation all in one. It is a love story about two different classes falling in love. William is from a wealthy family and Emma is a maid. This takes place in the victorian age. They also add a little history when the episode ends. This is a fasinating and wonderful film and I can hardly wait to see more episodes.

Now here's something I don't come across often. Emma offers a ridiculously accurate depiction of Victorian-era England to the very detail and creates a maid anime not loaded to the brim with fan service, cute lolis, or the sounds of "danna-sama" popping up every so often. Emma, William, and those they interact with behave naturally enough given the time and difference in classes between the characters. We also get a good enough sense of how the society with Emma and William works and view the difference in classes as both the lower and upper classes truly view themselves in different eras during this time with the two trying to find ways to bridge this gap. Tensions flare up especially when the relationship between Emma and William becomes known to William's family. The show even explores how Emma winds up in the services of Kelly Stowner. Unfortunately, the ending to Emma: Victorian Romance left things quite open-ended until the show's second season aired two years later which I plan on seeking out next.

Emma is a fresh romance title for me which isn't riddled in the cliches commonly found with romance and maid anime titles. It also gives you a nice opportunity to see what life was like in the Victorian era. Despite it's open ending, I look forward to seeing more of the series in the show's second season.
