Male high school student Akira entered cold sleep and woke up 200 years later to a world ravaged by war. A new unified organization called OWEL leads people, and a new system called "Elsie" (or "LC") has now replaced marriage. Appearing before Akira after he wakes is an android named Yugure, who bears a striking resemblance to his girlfriend, Towasa. Yugure immediately proposes marriage to a baffled Akira. Akira then decides to go on a journey with Yugure, as he believes Towasa must still exist in this world.

(Three episodes watched):

I had to borrow the ANN synopsis because the first episode--it turned out to be 'episode 0'--of this show doesn't get far enough into the story to reveal the premise. Throughout the episode, as we get a very thorough introduction to the relationship between the adopted Akira Himegami and his brilliant big sister Towasa Omaki, I was thinking to myself 'Didn't I hear somewhere that this show would have a far-out twist to it?'. It turns out that it does after all, but episode 0 barely scratches the surface. But we do get to know the main characters pretty well, and the story so far seemed believable, though the ham-fisted 'collusion' of rival android companies to bring Towasa down, and the irrational fear and hatred of Androids that the common people hold could have been done better. Basically, not much to review yet. In episode 1 Akira awakens in a Japan hurled back to the pre-industrial revolution era, yet somehow the entire world has a 1984-like dictatorial government known as OWEL (Orwell) which keeps track of what the people are thinking in every village. Towasa turns up, except it's actually an android that looks just like her. Towasa's duplicate rescues Akira from OWEL and then makes a surprising proposal to him.

In episode 02 Towasa's android duplicate insists that Akira should marry her—she's a shapely girl who looks just like the original, and would serve as an excellent sex doll. Surely any fairly randy teenager would jump at the chance. Akira refuses, since he hopes the real Towasa is still alive somewhere, but what he won't do is ask the obvious questions about WTF has happened since he was critically injured, why all android girls look more-or-less like Towasa, etc. Instead of following this path we instead are treated to a pair of Towasa-clone fighters, one of whom brandishes a Katana (a Samurai sword). But it was when the flagrantly gay OWEL commander arrived that I realized that this show was falling to pieces right before my eyes and I might as well quit watching. This isn't sci-fi, it's more like sword & sorcery, and not a very good sort.
