Salaryman Shingo Ichinomiya fell asleep in his apartment and awoke as five year old Wendelin von Benno Baumeister, the eighth son of a minor nobleman in a medieval world. He has since grown to be a young man and familiar with this alternate reality. As the eighth son, he is not entitled to much of an inheritance and will have to fend for himself someday. Fortunately, he has a rare talent for magic.

(One episode watched):

I watched episode one muted because of a technical problem, but even if it had had sound I doubt if I would have been thrilled by it. Apparently Wendelin will make a name for himself as a magician (early on, his magic is employed for construction projects, which is a little humiliating). I kind of wonder why this show bothered to reveal that he was once a real-world Japanese salaryman, since he soon accepts his new fate and shows no sign of agonizing over it or trying to find a way to undo it. We sort of get to know Wendelin, but not really well enough to care a whole lot what becomes of him. Episode one basically just sets up the scenario: Wendelin needs to make a living somehow and has a talent for magic. We see how he discovered his 'mana' and met a magician who, I'm guessing, he will become a sort of apprentice to. I am a little curious what will happen next, and will probably watch episode two. But nothing really struck me as exceptional about this show, and the odds are that I will not be watching it to the end.
