(One episode watched):

I watched episode one muted because of a technical problem, but even if it had had sound I doubt if I would have been thrilled by it. Apparently Wendelin will make a name for himself as a magician (early on, his magic is employed for construction projects, which is a little humiliating). I kind of wonder why this show bothered to reveal that he was once a real-world Japanese salaryman, since he soon accepts his new fate and shows no sign of agonizing over it or trying to find a way to undo it. We sort of get to know Wendelin, but not really well enough to care a whole lot what becomes of him. Episode one basically just sets up the scenario: Wendelin needs to make a living somehow and has a talent for magic. We see how he discovered his 'mana' and met a magician who, I'm guessing, he will become a sort of apprentice to. I was a little curious about what would happen next, and initially planned to watch episode two. But nothing really struck me as exceptional about this show, and the odds were clearly that I would not be watching it to the end, so ultimately I didn't.
