This is more a treat for animation and art enthusiasts than anime fans. Iblard Jikan is an animated collage of surreal paintings from Japanese artist Naohisa Inoue that show off his paintings with some subtle animated details included in each one. There are a fair number of bizarre happenings that occur within the paintings that are beautifully drawn and have some serene and subdued music to accompany the various art pieces depicted onscreen. If you're looking for plot and characters, don't waste your time here as this is more a treat for those who enjoy the mediums of animation and art as a whole instead of engaging you with any sort of story.

Humm …..

Did someone put magic-mushrooms in the Miso soup at Studio Ghibli and allow the animation team to 'trip-out' over a coffee-table picture book of Impressionistic paintings?

No, apparently not. There is a surrealist artist named Naohisa Inoue who created reference and background art for the Studio Ghibli film Whisper of the Heart.

Well, the Ghibli team decided to devote their anime-magic to create a 30-minute art-collage to honor Naohisa’s work.

Expect a series of minimally animated impressionist/surrealist stills accompanied with serene music. No drama, no action, not even really anime … but pure ANIMATED-ART.

Very impressive and well worth watching, but only if you are the type of person inclined to visit museums or someone who thinks of the Lourve whenever the word 'Paris' is mentioned.

Here are few images from the OVA.
