<i>Melodrama galore</i>. This show takes the otaku theme seriously, making this episode a rollercoaster. With Ayase showing a surprising yet interesting character trait I upgraded <b>Characters</b> and <b>Episode Story</b> by one point each. <small>(Her e-mail to "o-usotsuki-onii-san" at the end of this episode indicates that <i>she knows exactly what Kyousuke did</i>, making her a more intelligent person than the beginning of this episode suggested.)</small> One of the best episodes for me.

Episode five seemed corny and unconvincing to me. A friend who would disown you if she discovers you have a hobby she disapproves of seems to me like a friend you would be better off without. Kirino's Idol girl life seems so shallow anyhow. The characters' emotions wobble back and forth; even Kyousuke and Kirino have yet to grow much of a personality. Kyousuke conducting an amateur investigation of a notorious 'bad otaku' incident seemed corny; why does he go to so much trouble for a girl who kicks him in the nuts? This episode seemed to me like shallow wishful thinking aimed at undemanding otaku viewers.<br>
