| Keiichi's and Belldandy's relation still isn't going anywhere. This time it is Megumi-chan, Keiichi's sister, who is trying to give them a push forward and (in return for coming over at breakfast every morning) presents them two hotel tickets [image1] to the seaside! Sun, heat, water, people dressed in bathing suits... if this doesn't let Keiichi finally make his move then what could ever do so?
So now Keiichi the nonswimmer will be trying to spend time alone with Belldandy, and wait for a situation when none of her sisters is interfering - neither Urd trying to "encourage" him [image3] not Skuld trying to prevent him from stealing her sister away... [image5] Finally, Urd tells Keiichi's future from three vertically aligned sea cucumbers [image4], symbolizing his place of destiny - the place to confess his love to Belldandy under the full moon so that they'll be linked together eternally... [image6] "Marine configuration Banpei-kun" [image2] will be playing an important role in this episode. | |

Based on manga volume 8, chapter 50, this is one of the episodes I don't like that much as it reduces the series to a battle between Urd and Skuld. Little can Belldandy do this time, and while Keiichi fights bravely he serves as slapstick material in many scenes (including the inevitable onsen visit; as compared to this one, episode 10 of Ai Yori Aoshi ~Enishi~ was so much better...) The standard theme of the relation between Keiichi and Belldandy not making any progress almost guarantees for embarrassing scenes once again - and while others might consider them funny I simply don't. Probably the best part of this episode is the final sequence, backed up by a wonderful musical theme. The name "Blue 6" of "marine configuration Banpei-kun" (named "Deep 6" in the manga) might be a reference to Ao no 6-gou. ==================================== | |
