During a winter long ago, near-immortal vampires began plaguing the world. As their population grew at an astounding rate, they promptly threw humanity off its place at the top of the food chain. Desperate to avoid extinction, the surviving humans concentrated in their last safe haven—a small city surrounded by an enormous wall. There, they have waged war against the vampires for many years. In the midst of a particularly brutal attack by the vampires, a human soldier named Momo encounters Fine, the queen of their enemies. After seeing her try to save Momo's best friend from a rampaging vampire, Momo follows Fine back to her house. It is there Momo connects with Fine over their love for music and desire to escape the fighting. Pursuing that goal of escape, the two decide to journey toward a supposed paradise where humans and vampires coexist—despite being uncertain of its existence. However, Momo and Fine are being targeted by both races, who they must first evade if they hope to reach their destination in one piece.

Vampire in the Garden
This series is a bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand, Vampire in the Garden has beautiful artwork and moments of fluid action depicted through the battles between humans and vampires, plus the latter flying about when morphing their arms into wings. Plus while having its moments of feeling overblown with its drama, the relationship between Momo and Fine is explored well enough to show the two developing a genuine bond with one another over their love for cultural elements like music and art, as well as desiring to see a paradise free from the oppressive governments that both their kinds suffer from. On the other hand, the series' five-episode runtime limits what fleshing out the series can have to explore its seemingly post-apocalyptic world and the loved ones that Momo and Fine attempt to leave behind in their efforts to find a peaceful means for both their kinds to live together, reducing the characters largely to two-dimensional character types due to lack of time to expand much on their characters. As it is, Vampire in the Garden may make for worthwhile, yet predictable, entertainment for those looking for an angsty vampire drama to get into. But anyone expecting something different may be left feeling disappointed with what the series doesn't get time to dabble into.
