(One episode watched):
I hold a grudge against Attack on Titan, which was a series which began very well but ended very badly as a massive disappointment. At times it seemed to delight in building up the viewer's expectations, only to frustrate them in one way or another. But the reason it was so frustrating was that the early episodes showed that it could be an awesome show when it wanted to, so I go into this parody with mixed feelings.* This is basically a superdeformed parody of AoT. It struck me as sort of funny, and sort of not. The SD caricatures of well known characters were visually amusing, but seemed to engage in pretty lame jokes. There was a little violent comedy, if that's not an oxymoron. Basically, not terribly funny, and not having much of a plot either. At one point, just after a teacher has announced that the head of the school will address the students, the trademark giant, stripped-to-the-muscles Titan appears over a wall. I thought to myself 'Now this will be funny, as it turns out that this Titan is in fact the principal'. But it didn't happen. It was just an attack by numerous Titans, except now they don't eat people like sardines, instead they steal your lunch and eat that(?). I couldn't help feeling that this show seems to be aiming a little low. I was pleased when it turned out to be just 15 or so minutes long rather than the usual 23. At the end I was uncertain whether this show would be worth watching at all, even if it demanded only that much of the time I have to spare, and ultimately I decided to give it up. Not a stellar performance for a show based on yet another show which could be very cool at times.
*While doing research for this review, I stumbled across a mention of a second season of AoT being upcoming in 2016--I don't know if that is good news or bad.
