"WTF?" were the words I said to myself at the end of this episode. This is one weird show--so weird, in fact, that I can't say for certain whether it is funny or not. I intentionally did no research before viewing, because I wanted to be surprised. When the marriage topic came up, I said Uh-oh to myself, fearing another "supernatural chick expects ordinary guy to wed her" show. But for once the marriage is already a done deal, and the guy agreed to it. The psychic comedy element reminded me of Zettai Karen Children. Maybe if I was familiar with the legend of Genka I would be "getting" a lot more jokes, but I was largely mystified. What was the deal with the talking meal? Would I have gotten a deeper joke if I were Japanese, or was that all there was to it? Episode two made more sense though I'm still not getting a whole lot of laughs from this show. As I've mentioned, the theory of comedy which I adhere to is that things are funny when they are unexpected but make sense in an unexpected way. Perhaps the problem with this show is that it's so weird that I have no idea what to expect and have a hard time telling whether it's making sense or not. I mean, if a show never made sense, you wouldn't have anything to contrast with an alternate explanation to a joke punch line which did. Or maybe I'm an idiot. One joke which I couldn't help laughing at: the "performance" engineered for Yuuta at her school. Last updated Wednesday, April 23 2008. Created Tuesday, April 15 2008. |

The first episode is pretty fast paced. Basically it shows the familty getting together.
