I've noticed that 'steampunk' isn't one of the keywords in the index. Since there are some notable anime titles like Steamboy, Last Exile, and Laputa that fit in this category, I think that it should be a keyword to add in.

Steampunk is an anime genre where the era or world in which the series is set in still makes use of steam power and contains elements of either fantasy or science fiction.

My suggestion would be to go for it.

As a rule of thumb and with the understanding that your reviews have already garnered the respect of the other sempais (or senior reviewers), make a suggestion (as you have) and then let it sit for 24hours – just to see, if anyone has any other suggestions, comments or opinions.

And then, go for it.

My only comment to you might be learn to add Links to other series that you might mention in your reviews. (open the posting for The Boondocks for a sample of the format). It adds a bit of special value to your reviews.

Tis fun reading your reviews……

Oh ... and another way to refer to other series would be reference them by their # such as [series:1752]

I'm still browsing around this site right now to get a good sense of everything that is on it, besides posting reviews. And just to give you a heads up, I'm also trying to learn the page formating on this site as well. I have enough knowledge on anime and writing reviews, but I've rarely done formating for Internet pages.

But, I'll try tweaking my style of reviewing as I know how to do formating on this site better.

Hummmm.....

It took me a bit to figure out too (even with Devil Doll's helpful postings)

Let me look around to see if I can find a helpful DISCUSSION FORUM posting or some other helpful web-link page to help explain some of the text string formats.

Referring to other animes by setting links is a main incitement for visitors to surf a site; I rarely write a review without comparison to (content-wise) related other animes and linking to these.

Using the anime number instead of the name in such links makes them invulnerable against later changes of the anime name by whomever. You may set the text for your link by writing stuff like [series:143|Evangelion] which would then result in Evangelion whereas [series:143] results in Shin Seiki Evangelion.
Most of the other formatting stuff (explained in great detail in the FAQ article about Formatting Rules) is just a nice-to-have.

As for Steampunk, would Tenkuu no Escaflowne qualify for that? My vote on such cases in general would be: Once you find 5 animes that would fit (and are not just sequels/variations of each other), go create the category.

Yep ... DD is correct ...

(open bracket) SERIES (semicolon) ### (PIPE) any-typed-comment/name (close bracket)

Pipe symbol? ...... | | | | |

To find the 'pipe' key, it should be {shift} {back-slash}

and just what is a pipe? - see.. http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/p/pipe.htm

This is a useful feature! I just used it for the first time. It gets cumbersome when you want to have a link to another series which you mention in a review, but that series has a godawful long title. I had no idea such a feature existed until now.

Other titles I know of which are steampunk are Nadia: Secret of Blue Water, Full Metal Alchemist, and Howl's Moving Castle. So that would bring the steampunk count to six.

Otherwise at this moment, I'll edit my reviews so they include links.

All my reviews now have links to any titles that I mention.

How can I add 'steampunk' as one of the keywords?

The By Category page has a link named [edit] on its left top. Then you click on the "Add" button and enter the new category name.

The new category will become part of the "Keywords" subset; adding a category to one of the other subset requires Rebecca to do something in their software (where these subsets are hard-coded).

By the way, I just wonder whether we ought to (ab)use the "category" feature for grouping Animes together by content relation. For example, the Macross "cluster" contains no less than 8 animes that have their separate entries here. Would that call for a category already? Love Hina has 5 entries... what about this one?

I've always wanted a "Content Group" attribute of an anime which in this case would hold a string "Macross", and Rebecca's software would auto-generate links to all members of the same group in the head section of any anime review (ordered by release year ascending, for example). As we don't have this feature we've gotten used to setting these links manually within the synopsis section - which has the advantage that we are able to describe the actual dependencies (prequel/sequel, side story, summary etc.) much more precisely. An additional grouping mechanism via the "Category" would thus be less exact and kind of redundant now - but it would show the group(s) on the category level.

Comments, opinions?

Content Group? My..my..my... DD you are a programmer and this key-word fine when programming source code. But this is an anime site which will be visited by plebs, novices and web-crawlers, so we can't use this word.

Maybe we can replace content group with Anime Series or perhaps Related Series.

Collective thoughts? What are your comments?

Having it auto-generate the links would be kinda nice. Imagine if we were watching Gundam titles and had every title in that franchise in the database? That would be a lot of manual links to add. ^_^;

Replace "Content Group" by "Franchise", for that might be what I intended to express.

Hm... I remember that we have a bug report about editing notables pending, and given the identical dialog behavior of both pages I wouldn't be surprised if both problems were related. Adding a bug report (as Ggultra2764 already did for the "adding categories" issue) will automatically trigger an e-mail to Rebecca, so we might have to sit and wait...

Hey Ggultra2764...

I think that I found a quick and neat way to link (or reference) outside web links

Using the same syntax format as referencing series, there appears to be a way to easily reference links (outside of the MIKOMI server).

(open bracket)(H_TTP.... link)(PIPE)(inserted comments)(close bracket)

I used this format to create a WIKI link for School Days (TV).

Specifically for Realm of the Senses

And it seems to work very well .....
