| It's the day of the great dance organized by the student council, so there are no classes for afternoon. Mai is worried [image1] and about to cancel the event, but Sayuri's "no 'but'" holds her back. And the dance [image2] is about to be a great success - until the glass breaks [image3].
Mai's friends have their hands full to protect her afterwards. And Sayori is willing to do everything she can, be that accepting a position in the school counsil together with that Kuze guy [image4] or buying a kawaii birthday present for Mai. | |

This is the first part of the great Mai-centered double episode. It is amazing how Sayuri fights for her best friend and tries to do as many right things as she can. She is the engine of this episode - Yuuichi can hardly do more than give her a hand now and then, although what he said to Mai on the staircase [image5] was actually the best he could do. But while Sayuri is willing to pay the price [image6] she can only cure the symptoms... as Mai said before: She cannot leave until all monsters have gone. Although there was a lot of action this episode basically showed what will not work to solve the problem. There is little space for the other girls this time. Nayuki looking worried at her cousin has become standard already; Ayu is reduced to her little "tackle scene" (and Yuuichi obviously isn't in the mood to contribute anything here), Makoto does't have an appearance today. Not even Shiori's regular visit is a success on this special day, although it is enough to make Kaori hesitate. Yuuichi's line of the day: "Are you Sayuri then?" - - - - - - - - - - | |
