| Devil Doll: Back to the roots. Like several episodes during the first half of the first season, this one is a comedy-heavy one, with someone else than Kyousuke being the target for once. The boy's behavior was at least credible given the look & voice of Ayaka (while Ayase should certainly have asked him to change the player name in the game); unfortunately this isn't too positive an indicator for Kuroneko's future role in this show. But it was fun to see Ayase get life counseling from "onee-san". Stretch: A correction to my first impressions: Kyosuke is just as spineless as ever. He does whatever he's told even if they are clearly stupid things, and takes it in stride when he is kicked or slapped. The premise of this episode, of people becoming addicted to a seemingly vapid video game, was kind of amusing, though surely more could have been done with it than was. Maybe it's all the references to modern otaku culture which keep me interested in this show in spite of the aggravating characters. | |
