Juusou Kikou Dancouga Nova - 10: Passion Out Of Control!

Title:Juusou Kikou Dancouga Nova
Episode:10: Passion Out Of Control!
Synopsis
While the crew of Dancouga are speechless at their new gilded "Divine Beast" mode, Ardaigun and it's pilot, Eida Rossa, make their escape. FS is pleased at this turn of events, and Will comments that "It means humanity has attained the power to fight against them". The crew is summoned by Commander Tanaka to discuss what has happened. To their surprise, FS is there too, and at long last gives them an explanation of Dancouga's true purpose. Their job was to draw out Dancouga's full potential, and now that that has been done, it can fight without them and their services are no longer required. Isabelle Kronkite is entranced by video recordings of her salvation by Sakuya at the recent party. FS briefs Will, who is pessimistic about humanity's ability to avoid destroying itself, much less defending itself from an extraterrestrial threat. Meanwhile, the headquarters of the Zolbrain Corporation, the sponsors of Ardaigun, come under attack by an unknown robot of incredible strength...
Comments
I was expecting an explanation from Eida Rossa about how she came to pilot Ardaigun, but she makes a quick getaway. You can't blame the Dancouga crew for letting her go; some pretty weird stuff had just happened to them and they were rather flustered. When FS and Tanaka finally explained almost everything, I was unhappy; the skillful way in which answers were rationed out up until now was one of the best things about this show. Perhaps Dancouga Nova is saddled with having to retain the most crucial plot elements of the old TV series, if it claims to have any relationship to that show; I don't know. When you think about it, is making a set of cutting-edge mechs resemble wild animals a particularly efficient way to go? I hope Dancouga Nova doesn't start taking itself too seriously, because it is not suited to that. Anyway, time is running out--there are only two episodes left to go. As the battle at the end of the episode raged, the thought occured to me that the animation had somehow reverted to the standards of 1985. The dreary, cloudy atmosphere seemed more crappily drawn than intentionally illustrated to look that way (I only select good frames to use here!). Still, a number of intriguing questions remain unanswered, and, as usual, the episode ends with a teaser ("Now that this has happened we have only one place to go")which leaves me very curious. Finally, I don't exactly understand what sort of "Passion" went out of control, but it wasn't the kind I was expecting!
