Title:Kashimashi ~Girl Meets Girl~
Episode:5: As Seen Through The Eyes Of Yasuna
Synopsis
Yasuna remembers how Tomari reminded her that she had hurt Hazumu by rejecting her/him back when she/he was still a boy. Hitoshi boldly asks Hazumu what she intends to do about her love for Yasuna, but she's too embarassed to respond. While walking to school, Hazumu asks Asuta for some advice, but he misinterprets the question. Ayuki observes that "There's trouble" upon seeing Tomari's reaction to seeing Hazumu and Yasuna together. Yasuna proposes that she and Hazumu pair up for an art class sketching excursion, but Tomari asks Hazumu to pair up with her instead. Hitoshi-sensei teaches science class using some sunflowers on which he's performed some genetic manipulation. He notices that Yasuna behaves strangely around boys. Hazumu is unaware of this, and he tells her that it "Looks like you don't know anything about Kamiizumi Yasuna"...
Comments
It's hard to choose between masculine and feminine pronouns when describing Hazumu! I'm not comfortable with Yasuna's unique "problem" regarding boys--it reminds me of the inexplicable illness Kei suffered from in Onegai Teacher. It is clearly supposed to be touching, but it's hard to be "touched" when you can't really take the problem seriously. I mean, I have an easier time accepting alien visitors and a boy being resurrected as a girl than a hokey illness like this. Why not just ascribe it to a phobia about boys? That's what I thought it was at first, and it would be far more plausible. On the bright side, the show is funny as always, at least during the first half. I love the artwork of the scenes that take place at sunset--they must have a special artist who handles these.
