Afro Samurai
Watch

Based on a doujinshi written by Takashi Okazaki in the late 90's, Afro Samurai is a creative collaboration between Samuel L. Jackson, Takashi Okazaki and the Japanese animation company Gonzo, a division of GDH, with the intentions of creating an anime series for US and Japanese markets. Scheduled to premiere on Spike TV (a US cable station). With the Academy Award-nominated actor Samuel L. Jackson already signed on to co-produce and to do the lead character's voice, this is a first in a potentially interesting trend.

Afro Samurai: Resurrection
Watch Late one night, Afro is suddenly attacked by Jinno. However, he is unable to protect himself, and Jinno drags him nearby to his father's grave, where a woman named Sio awaits. She proceeds to take the Number One headband that he possesses, as well as the remains of his dead father's skull. Before leaving, she tells him to seek and obtain the Number Two headband, if he wants the right to take back his father's remains. With that, Afro must once again embark on a path of violence in order to let his father rest in peace once again. (Source: ANN)

Akagi
Rent On a cold and stormy night, Shigeru Akagi crawled out of the ocean, stumbled into a dingy waterfront Mahjong parlor and into a rough Mahjong game. Nangu was heavily in debt and had been offered a chance to gamble away his debts by the yakusa. And if he did not win, they had made sure that his life insurance policy would more than cover what he owed them. That evening’s tiles had not been kind to Nangu and with nothing left to loose, he decided to take a chance and let the thirteen-year-old Akagi play in his place. The events of that evening are still quietly spoken about and of how a rank-beginner beat the yakusa rep (or professional) player. It was that night that the legend of Akagi - the genius or monster of the Mahjong game - was born.

Akira
Rent In yet another post-apocalyptic future, a young biker becomes the subject of a bizarre project known only as "Akira," apparently designed to bestow unstoppable pychic powers on youths, intended to be exploited as living weapons. Directed and created by OTOMO Katsuhiro.
