(Four-and-a-half episodes watched): It took me three tries to get through episode one of Arsnotoria-, because these girls initially seem to be living pretty boring, conlict-free (except for the competition to be 'The Select' student) lives. They are students in a magic academy but apparently haven't mastered anything amazing yet. They are likable but unexciting (and Tori's helium voice sort of annoyed me). But it is made clear that their peaceful lives as minor students will clash with some villain who slaughters helpless people because he feels they are guilty of 'Total Depravity', whatever that is. There is a mention of 'London', which made me wonder if this is taking place in the real world in the past or future. Also of 'Bugs', which might be ordinary insects or might be something more. So, I decided to watch episode two since Arsnotoria and her friends had yet to hear of this guy or the threat that he would pose. Episode two is mainly about a Bug hunt and three is mainly about Arsnotoria temporarily losing her most unique skill, her superb sense of smell. We don't learn much more about the threat that looms over these magic academy girls. The characters are still likeable but their lives are pretty boring at this point. They goof off a little, and learn magical secrets, but they are not in any sort of danger so far and the humor is inadequate to carry the show all by itself.
