Said short, this is another "Cute-Girls-In-Battlesuits-Save-The-World" series. Nagisa, the main character is offered the chance to become an "Iczelion", a defender of the earth equipped with a semi-intelligent extremely powerful battlesuit. She refuses, but is nevertheless hunted by the enemy because of her potential and repeatedly saved by the other three memebers of the Iczelion squad. I've never seen a series as two-sided as this one. Considering the Story, the Characters, the development, and the ideas, this tape definitively ISN'T worth the plastic it was made of: The charas are flat, the story (if there is one anyway) is not even good enough to be called bad - its terrible. The character development is ZERO until the very last minutes of episode II, when Nagisa finally suddenly decides to fight after she fearfully ran away the whole annoying 59 minutes before. Even worse, the story is far from being finished - there were some other episodes planned which were never produced. That explains the story deficits of these two episodes since those were meant as "pilot" ones. So, I would have long before tossed this into the trashbin except for two reasons: a) The battlesuit design are REALLY excellent. Eve more than in the other Iczer Episodes. Elegant to the point of almost fragile-looking, but at the same time agressive and last but not least - sexy :) I find this design simply inspiring - I even created some desktop backgrounds and a winamp-skin of it so far. AND b) The "Iczelion"-Theme Techno. I never heard a track so powerful, so energetic, so restless and speed-driven, but at the same time so melodic. RESUMMÉ : It is REALLY, REALLY worth taking a look at. Not more and not less. Watch it, rent it, but do yourself a favor and DONT buy it.
